Sangokushi 12 (English: Romance of the Three Kingdoms 12) is Koei's latest and possibly final installment in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. It was released in Japan in February 2012 on PC. Koei has not made any plans to release the game overseas. In August and September Koei announced it is working on a PlayStation 3 and Wii U version respectively that will be released in Japan in December 2012. 481 characters appear in this game, which are a lot less than in Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI, but all characters do have new (high quality) portraits, which was not the case in XI. On the console versions more characters and scenario's will appear.
